Brittany is the land of the sea, of seamen of course and fishing. No one can stay in Britanny without getting to know the coasts and the sea which provide the framework of the life of Bretons. Today, a traditional yacht takes you to the 7 island archipelago, off the Pink Granite Coast. This wild archipelago is home to more than 27 species of bird, or more than 20 000 pairs. On the Island of Rouzic, you will discover the unique French colony of Fous de Bassans with 17500 pairs. The sights offered by the Island of Rouzic are breathtaking. On the south side of the island, you will notice penguins, crested cormorants and monk puffins. A group of 30 grey seals live here permanently and they can be seen among the rocks at high tide or sprawled on the sand banks at low tide. When conditions allow it, you can make a stopover on Monks Island. The walk along the lit paths allows you to follow the island from the lighthouse to the fort.
Back on earth, bike along the coast for a breathtaking view or take the coastal path called ‘Sentier des Douaniers’ on foot to the large natural site of Ploumanac’h. No doubt that you will be in ecstasy in front of the permanent spectacle offered by the pink granite rocks, with eccentric shapes, sculpted by the wind and the waves for millennia, in shades of pink that take on dazzling hues in the setting sun. Here, the rocky chaos mingles with exceptional seascapes, and in particular the Sept-Îles archipelago which is discovered with the tides.
For dinner, the creative cuisine based on fish and shellfish of “Belouga” restaurant will thrill your taste buds combining the flavours splendidly, while taking in the incredible view of the Seven Island Archipelago from the bay window.
