YOU’LL LOVE TO KNOW
First obtained by mixing goat fat and beech ash, olive oil replaced animal fat in the 7th century. Later Colbert imposed the name “Marseille Soap” a green soap sold in bars of 5kg or pieces of 20kg.
The 20th century was fatal for this traditional industry internationally known and its 70 factories. Today only 3 soap factories remain in production.
The Manades are bull and/or horse farms
The work of breeders with the Camargue bull is a family affair. The powerful animals live all year round in semi-freedom, “at home”, in their pastures and manadiers consider them almost like their own children and live at their own pace.
